Cuddyford Vegetarian B&B

Location and atmosphere

Cuddyford lies in a rural setting in the south of Dartmoor National Park. The rugged moorland of the north has changed here into a peacefully rolling landscape. The building dates from the 1930s and has a large garden and orchard.

Facillities

Accommodation is in two double rooms with shared facilities. Susie cooks lovely meals, and uses homemade bread, free-range eggs, honey from the beehives and organically grown vegetables and fruit. Special diets on request. There is a small kitchen for preparing hot drinks and snacks. Children are very welcome. Adam can tell you all about keeping bees.

Surroundings and activities

Cuddyford offers a perfect base to explore the heather-covered moors of Dartmoor with its rich habitat for wildlife and a wealth of archaeological remains as evidence of man’s occupation over a period of some 5,000 years. The Dartmoor Way is a circular walking and cycling route that sweeps for almost 90 miles around Dartmoor National Park. In the nice middle age town Buckfastleigh, once commercial centre of woollen clothes, you will find England’s last abbey that is still in use. Grimspound is a nice preserved settlement that dates back to the Bronze Age, with tumuli, stone formations and cromlechs. In the brushwood of nearby Hembury a wide range of lichen, ferns, primroses and sage can be found, as well as a variety of birds such as the redstart, flycatcher and wood wren.
