Dąbrówka
This organic farm called “Dąbrówka” is located in a beautiful quiet village Hołowienki. Their greatest advantage is traditional Polish food made from home-grown organic produce. They are the proud winners of several awards for Nalewka z Żurawiny (Cranberry Liqueur), Jarzębiak (Rowan Vodka), Tarninówka (Sloe Gin) and cakes, biscuits and gingerbread. They make a registered traditional product: Kiełbasa Nadbużańska jałowcowa sucha (dry juniper-smoked sausage). On 18,5 hectares they grow vegetables and fruit. They also keep cows and pigs and in the farmyard there are chickens and ducks.
We offer two rooms at the hosts’ house with a shared bathroom in the hall. One room is for two persons and one room is for three persons. Meals are shared with hosts who prepare traditional food from home-grown organic produce and also sell organic vegetables, fruit, flour and eggs. For the kids they have workshops on organic farming.
There is wonderful bike route to Treblinka, the village where the old concentration camp used to be. You can find out about early medieval settlements in Niewiadoma and Nur Kolonia, Ołtarze-Gołacze. If you love old manors, there is a manor complex in Kupientyn, Grodzisk, Kurowice and Bachorza and numerous manors and palaces in the neighbouring city of Sokołów Podlaski. Nature lovers can discover the Bug Landscape Park. And the little town of Nur has its modest attractions, like the scenic overlook by the Bug River, the sacral complex of the Transfiguration Parish Church, the wooden clergy house at the Saint John the Apostle Church and a Roman period settlement in Łęg Nurski.
