Boerderij de Buitenplaats
This ‘kop-hals-romp’- (head-neck-body) farm (characteristic farm for this region) dates from 1969 and lodges a biodynamic cattle farm with cows, chickens and small cattle. There are potatoes and dairy for sale. The neighbouring farm delivers clover-grass, waste of vegetables and straw to De Buitenplaats and in return they deliver dung as fertilizer for the cultivated fields of the neighbour. That is ecology in practice!
On the field behind the farm is a campsite for 15 tents or caravans. There’s also a caravan for rent. The facilities are wheelchair-accessible. In summer they sometimes organize handicraft-activities for the children. If you like you can help with the daily work on the farm.
The environment offers a lot of walking-possibilities. The farmhouse lies on a 7 km distance of dune and beach. On the other side of the North-Dutch Channel (Noord-Hollands Kanaal) you find the dunes of Schoorl. Naturist recreation is possible on the beach of St. Maartenszee. In the old church of Eenigenburg (from 1792) on Sunday you can visit atmospheric concerts by enthusiastic musicians. The church which was built on a mound from the fourteenth century, has a church-clock from 1543, a pulpit from 1698 and a unique orchard, built by Scholgens in 1876. The ruin of the castle of Nieuwendoorn (Floris V) and its botanical gardens with domestic flora are worth a visit.
