Vindelåforsens Stugby
Vindelåforsen means the Rapids of the Vindel River and the houses are 200 metres from the roaring river, where the Royal trail comes down to Ammarnäs from the north. The cottages are 10 km from the village by the lake Bertejaure, a tranquil hiking and fishing area. Vindelåforsens Stugby is dedicated to the sustainable development of the Ammarnäs Area and the owner, Urban Berglund can tell you all about Local Management today and the history of Ammarnäs. His wife, Marita Norin, is an artist and has her own exhibition in ‘Skulpturum’. She is the designer of the Swedish ten-kronor coin and author of some books on self development.
For guests there are six holiday houses, two appartments and six cottages (eight persons per house and four per cottage). All lodging is well equipped for self-catering. There is a nice sauna on the premises and a fire-place outdoors.
Ammarnäs is a small mountain village in the heart of the Vindel Mountain Nature Reserve, the largest protected area in Europe. Visit the local Naturum for more information on flora and fauna. The Ammarnäs Area is a stronghold of Sámi-culture and of settlers-culture, here reindeer-herding and farming has coexisted for 200 years. Visit the local museums and exhibitions.
