The farm and neighbourhood Our newly built country home has a panoramic view to the south and west overlooking fields and meadows towards Fardume Lake – a designated bird sanctuary. The nearby marshes, grasslands and hedgerows provide a perfect haven for a multitude of birds and other wildlife like foxes, hares and even the occasional roe deer. Thrill to the call of cranes and geese while enjoying the magnificent sunsets with the tower of medieval Hellvi church silhouetted in the distance. The Gotlandic countryside will delight you with its spring flowers, lovely sunny summer days and wonderful autumn colours! Biking is a pleasure on Gotland with rolling fields and forest scenery, roadsides full of wildflowers and small fishing hamlets on stony coasts. Avonlea lies near the coast (about 500 m to Valleviken with sandy shallow beach, harbour and restaurant), with grocery stores in Fårösund (15 km) bike rentals and ferry to Fårö, and Lärbro (10 km) that also has a superb greengrocer. There are many lovely sandy beaches in the neighbourhood as well as magnificent stonestack fields, cafés and a bakery. I’ll be happy to tell you about all the interesting things you can see on walks/rides in the neighbourhood. Your hostess, Luella, and husband Anders are former organic dairy farmers and continue to follow the same ecological principles. Our property here at Fardume consists of 8.5 ha arable land that we rent to the farmer who has taken over our dairy operation at Alvans. Jonas also pastures his heifers and dry cows on our 25 ha of natural grazing land so we can fulfil the EU requirements for biodiversity. Our horse paddock, house grounds as well as 18 ha of forest near the coast complete our holdings. In addition to our four Connemara ponies our menagerie includes Clover our Border collie, and Viola, our cat. We are expecting a new foal this spring! And if no holiday would be complete without your pets, we even offer accommodation for your dog/horse! Det finns ett dubbelrum som går att hyra, den har en egen ingång, litet kök, dusch och toalett och en balkong med morgonsol. Om du nämner att du skulle vilja ha frukost eller kvälls snacks i din bokning så finns det i ert kylskåp när ni anländer, det är väldigt praktiskt om man kommer tillbaka sent på kvällen efter en båttur eller om man vill gå upp tidigt för att titta på fåglar. Det finns även en rymlig lägenhet man kan hyra med tre sovrum, vardagsrum med kök, tv, badrum med badkar och tvättmaskin. Du har också tillgång till dusch och toalett på bottenvåningen. På gården har de även tio platser för campare

Man kan gå ut på vandring på öns markerade stig som tar er runt hela ön (500km lång). I Fårösund (15km) hittar man cykeluthyrning om man inte känner sig manad att gå runt ön så är det ett perfekt ställe att cykla på, där hittar man även en livsmedelsaffär. För en bra grönsakshandlare så ska ni absolut besöka en som ligger i Lärbro (10km). Ungefär 500 meter ifrn Avonela så ligger Vallenviken med en sandstrand, en hamn och restaurang.
