'O Tamanco' is a small-scale, pleasant camping where chickens, cats, goats and donkeys walk happily along. The place is extensively set up, partly covered with mimosas and fruit trees as well as bougainvilleas. Situated in a rural area at 12 km away from beautiful Atlantic sandy beaches. Special environmental attention is given to compost-use, cleaning of the swimmingpool with salt, waste-separation and the use of biodegradable cleaningproducts. The atmosphere is in agreement with the surroundings: intimate, small-scale and free.

For tents, caravans and campers there are spacious places available in the orchard and the forest. Two wooden bungalows with own terrace (max. four persons) and yurts (two to four persons) are for rent. A swimmingpool is hidden between the vegetation. A sandbox and colourfull playtools draw the attention, as well as the wooden climbing tower. For teenagers there is a special meetingplace. The restaurant ‘A Cantina’ offers (daily) the most delicious meals from the Iberian and international kitchen. One can choose from vegetarian-, meat- and fishdishes and as much as possible organic ingredientes are used. Who enjoys Portuguese snacks and tippling can take place in the bar. Extra’s: covered patio and cosy terraces, book-collection, exhaustive tourist information, computers with internet, Portuguese language-course, selling of home-made fruitjuice, jeux-de-boules court and visit to a winefarm.

O Tamanco is centrally situated related to cultural attractions and natural beauty. The university-city Coimbra (45 km), the pilgrimage resort Fátima (40 km) and the Roman escavations in Conimbriga (30) are certainly worth a visit. The Costa da Prata (Silver Coast, 12 km) honours duely it’s name: cristalclear silvergrey water, untouched dunes and endless beaches.
