At the place where three provinces meet: Groningen, Drenthe and Friesland you find Natuurvriendenhuis* Allardsoog. The House is situated in a magnificent/vast landscape where you still can here silence, especially around this former school.

The accommodation has 24 rooms, is excellent for groups and it is adapted for wheelchair users. The sleeping wing and two halls have recently been done up/ redecorated. The living room has a wide view and a terrace outside. There are halls for music, nature study and handcraft, and a library. From your bedroom and the living room you have a view between the trees on the meadows. Bikes and tandem bicycles are for rent at the accommodation. During creative weeks you may follow for instance courses of painting. For children there is a playground and inside they have games.

Around the house you will find different routes. You can walk along the Zevenwoudenpad (LAW1-1), ride horseback, roller blade and ride a bike. On the Friesian side are the woods, heathlands and dunes of Bakkeveen. The province of Drenthe offers ash villages and the large Fochtelooerveen, where you can see demonstrations of cutting peat. The Noordervelt in Groningen offers quiet, nature and space in a landscape of long, narrow canals and woods. In the surroundings you find further on rural villages, small museums, defensive works and rural estates like the Slotplaats. Water fun you find at the beach Ronostrand at Een (4.5 km). In Norg (8 km) you can go to the Vluchtheuvel, an amusement park. At Bakkeveen (5 km) you will get lost in Dundelle, labyrinth park. The Toy Museum Kinderwereld, located in Roden in the ancient house Pietershuys (8 km), offers halls full of toys to watch and: to play with. In Drachten (14 km) is recreation area De Naturij: a marvellous laid-out petting farm with a large playground, a butterfly garden, nature area with a themed garden, footpaths, and much more.
