De Slypstien
Campsite De Slypstien is located in the beautiful, green Northwest of the province Friesland at a farm just outside the village Wjelsryp. The owners have sixty cows and many calves. Guests can watch how the cows are milked and every day they can buy fresh milk or yoghurt. The farm also has dwarf goats, chicken, dog and rabbits.
The campsite has pitches for eight campers or caravans and seven tents. Also, you can rent a bungalow, four caravans or a (mobile) caravan. The bungalow offers sleeping-place for six persons, the caravan for four to six persons. The largest caravan and the bungalow have an own shower and toilet. All of these have a living room with TV and a kitchen. For the children some playground equipment is available.
Various bicycle routes start in the nearby village Wjelsryp. Franeker is worth a visit (5 km). It is an old little city well-known by the Planetarium. Eise Eisinga built a copy of the solar system on scale on the ceiling of the living room in his house on the canal, between 1774 and 1781. By this solar system you can still read the actual position of the planets. The cities Leeuwarden and Sneek, on 15 km, are worth a visit too. Moreover you can take the boat from Harlingen to some of the Waddeneilanden (West Frisian islands). Or you can take a look at the Afsluitdijk (dam that separates the IJsselmeer from the sea). Afterwards you can visit the Kazemattenmuseum (Casemate Museum) of Kornwerderzand.
