Poggio del Castagno is a bio-dynamic farm in the South of Tuscany, 8 km from Pitigliano. The farm is situated on a hilltop, in the middle of nature and an oak tree forest and offers beautiful views. Carla and her husband arrived here in 1980 and rebuild the place all by themselves into this lovely accommodation and campsite. They produce barley, hazelnuts, olive oil, olives and vegetables. 

There are three bedrooms with private bathroom for two persons and there is one bedroom with private bathroom and a small kitchen for two persons. Camping is possible amongst the trees. A few steps away from the rooms and the camping there is a cosy communal room where you can have breakfast and other meals at the large table and where during the winter you can relax in front of the fireplace. When the weather is good, meals are served outside under the 2-300 year old oak tree. Here you also find a swing and a small pool. Dogs are welcome. Guests can buy barley coffee, hazelnuts, vegetables, eggs and nice cheese. In Pitigliano, 8 km away, is a restaurant where you can enjoy local dishes. You can do courses in collecting and cooking with natural growing herbs, Ayurveda cooking and ceramics. If you like you can also help on the farm.

Poggio del Castagno is situated in the middle of the Maremma, a not very well-known area of Tuscany. There are many ways of discovering the beautiful surroundings with oak and chestnut trees. 3 Km away is the bronze age settlement of Sorgenti della Nova and 6 km away is the nature reserve of Selva del Lamone. Not far away are the cities of Sovana and Sorana and a bit further are Saturnia with hot water springs, the lake of Bolsena (45 min. by car), the Amiata and the historical cities of Orvieto (1 hour) and Viterbo. You can swim in a lake 6 km away or in a thermal swimming pool at 8 km away. The sea is one hour drive by car away.
