Location and atmosphere

Thomas and Maureen, their daughter Martina en her two children live in this 150 year old two-storey farmhouse situated in a scenic rural landscape, with panoramic views of Slieve Aughty Mountains. The owners participate in the Rural Environment Protection Scheme and don’t use chemicals on their land. There are three generations playing traditional music in the house, so musicians from any genre are very much embraced and welcomed and music sessions are available every week during summer months.

Accommodation is available in two double bedrooms, with one bathroom and a separate shower unit. There is a shared, separate bathroom plus shower and toilet downstairs. For rent is a newly reconstructed heritage house for maximum eight people. It has four large bedrooms, one ensuite, plus two separate bathrooms. One large sitting room/dining room with all necessary facilities plus tv and internet access. The small camping ground can accommodate three tents or caravans. Campers may use the kitchen. Bicycles and fishing rods are available. Irish language classes are available from qualified teacher in house.

Surroundings and activities

The area around the farm is well suited to the tourist who likes peace and quiet. Take a walk to the ancient Holy Well, the Burial Ground and to the picnic area adjacent to the Killeen River which flows alongside. There are many places of historic interest locally and in South Galway and North and East Clare generally. The Slieve Aughty Mountains are 12 km, Lough Greanay and fishing 10 km. The Burren Area in North Clare (25 km), is famous for its limestone and rare flora, and has many species of fauna. Two Norman castles in the local area are within walking distance. Yeats' Tower and Coole Park, are just 12 km away. Gort Town (10 km) is a heritage town with many different shops and a good health food shop.
