Liukonpellon Luomutila
Located in Leppävirta, Liukonpelto Organic Farm offers a wonderful setting for nature trips and environmental education in the scenic shoreline reserve of Suvasvesi covering 20 hectares. On the farm, there is a 2,5 km nature trail. The owners spend their summers in Finland and their winters in Norway, where they also have an accommodation for visitors.
In Leppävirta, accommodation is available in a cottage, in a traditional outbuilding (sleeping 7-10 persons), in a hut and in the mainbuilding of the farm. The cottage is situated in a deciduous woodland on Lake Suvasvesi, and the hut on a campsite close by the nature reserve. Campers are also welcome on the campsite or in the vicinity of the farm building. Breakfast, picnics and other meals are available if pre-booked. Home-made rye bread is a speciality, and you can also buy home-grown potatoes, peas, onions and strawberries.
There is a possibility to learn about organic farming. Guided excursions can be organized in the forests or along the nature trail, and also tourism service packages are available if pre-ordered. An outdoor kitchen and a beach are in the vicinity of the cottage. Tents, a large tent and a heater are for rent, and a boat, canoes and bikes are for loan. Cultural attractions in the area include the famous Convents of Valamo and Lintula (30 km).
