Camping Mas la Bauma
Mas la Bauma is a small and environmentally friendly campsite on a farm. It is set in a valley in the foothills of the Pyrenees (elev. 1,000 m), surrounded by a mixed deciduous and evergreen forest with a wealth of flora and fauna.
The campsite was designed to have a minimum impact on the environment: you pitch your tent on terraced former potato fields. The campsite uses solar energy. Its name is derived from the large rock formation on the premises; bauma means hanging rock or shallow cave in Catalan. A nearby river has natural swimming holes. Guests can purchase various products on the campsite, including dried mushrooms, home-grown vegetables, herbs, eggs, paté and jam. The bar is open every day, and bar meals are available 3-4 times a week. This mountainous area is not accessible to caravans. Children and small tents pay less.
The surrounding area is a walker’s paradise, from short strolls to mountain hikes on the highest ridges. There are plenty of clearly marked footpaths. Not far from the campsite there are beaches and cultural sites to be found in cities such as Barcelona and Girona, and in smaller villages.
