Camping Masia Can Fosses
This campsite (elev. 1,200 m) is on the premises of Masia Can Fosses, a traditional mountain farm that has been in the same family for over 500 years. Around 100 Pyrenean cows and calves graze on the slopes of the property, which is surrounded by 100 ha of red and black pines.
The terraced campsite is on the south flank of the mountain and provides plenty of sunshine, tranquillity and panoramic views. There are about 25 pitches for tents and caravans. There are also 3 tents for hire. The campsite has a common room with an open fireplace and a cafeteria/bar. Lluis has lived here all his life and knows the region like no one else. He will take you on guided tours to the caves known as ‘Las Grutas de las Encantadas’, on expeditions up Mount Puigmal (2,913 m), and on walks through the protected woods where there are many centenarian pine trees. Children may help giving salt to the cows.
A playground, swiming pool, football field, tennis court, shop and restaurant are all to be found in Planoles (1 km away). There are plenty of walking and cycling routes (the campsite is on the GR-11) and information is available at Can Fosses. A small rack locomotive will take you through the breathtaking valley of the river Núria up to the isolated sanctuary of Nostra Senyora de Núria. Ski slopes are located 7 and 12 km away.
