Natuurkampeerterrein de Lier
Nature campsite De Lier is located in the woods of the Lieropse en Strabrechtse Heide (Heaths of Lierop and Strabrecht), a vast nature area on the border of the regions Peel and Kempen. It is a pastoral site where peace, space, sustainable management and hospitality are central, and it is very pleasant for children.
The grounds have 27 spacious pitches and a large number holes offering privacy. Cyclists and walkers are always welcome at the separate hiker's field. There is no electricity for caravans. The sanitary building is new and very neat. If on a leash pet animals are allowed here. For camping at the Lier you need a special card, a Natuurkampeerkaart, which is available.
National Park De Groote Peel is a vaste landscape consisting of moors and woods. The varied landscape of the region the Kempen consists of high sandy soils with fields, woodlands and heaths cut by small rivers. The large Beuven (pool) is famous for its flora and fauna. On the border of the pool is a bird-watching cabin. Many routes for walking and cycling have been laid out in the surroundings, like the long distance walking trail Pilgrim's Path and the long distance cycling trail the Schelde-Rheinroute. The surroundings offer a variety of culture. In Asten is a museum of natural history, with a bell section, a carillon museum and an observatory. In the town Geldrop you find the still functioning weaving museum, in Eindhoven the Prehistoric Village and the Van Abbemuseum, which is a museum of modern art with a unique collection. In Gennip is the Centre for Education on the Environment.
