Jussila farm is an organic farm, home to milking cows (natives of Lapland), Finnish sheep and goats, horses, indigenous hens, bees, cats and dogs. The farm aims at self-sufficiency. On the fields they grow cereals, vegetables and root crops. Horse-power is an essential feature in forestry work. The hostess is also an expert in conventional and animal homeopathy, and the host is a horseman and certified strasserhoof care specialist.
For visitors B & B accommodation is provided in a cabin sleeping max. three persons and equipped with a heater. A sauna is next door. Bring your own bed linen. Also lunches are available. Camping is possible from May till October. House specialities include unripened cheese and pancakes. In the summer, organic milk, eggs, honey and vegetables are for sale.
On Jussila, riding and animal care camps are organized during summer weekends and other holidays. With the horses ‘soft methods’ are used. The shoeless, bitless horses go calm and happy on the surrounding variable pathways and countryroads. You can also learn about milk processing, wool treatment and felt-making and in springtime the making of traditional fences. Also homeopathic treatments are available. Visitors are welcome to take part in hay-making, fence-building and forestry work. Close by are a 10-15 km hiking route around a lake, quiet country roads, a museum with traditional tools, and in June the "Baroque Summer" music festival in Janakkala.
