Mas de Mingall
Mas de Mingall is a large 19th century farmhouse standing in a valley with 14 ha of olive, almond and carob trees interspersed with pine woods. It remains green all year round in the valley, which is home to wild boar and many bird species, including golden orioles, nightingales and owls. Wild herbs and plants fill the garden with a lovely aroma. There are quiet, starry nights in this wonderful location in the great outdoors.
The house has five Bed & Breakfast-rooms (one has a balcony and another has access to a roof garden) and two bathrooms. Groups are welcome to rent the whole house as a self-catering accommodation. There is an open fireplace and a piano in the large sitting room. The large rustic kitchen has doors that open out onto a shady patio. The garden has enough space for four tents, and there is a swimming pool surrounded by olive trees. Ansje and Klaas sell their own olive oil, eggs and vegetables. At evenings you can join the dinner table. Clear spring water is pumped up from 200 m underground and solar panels supply electricity. If enough guests participate, your host will arrange courses in mosaic, stained glass and pottery.
There are several walking and cycling paths nearby (guests may borrow up to five mountain bikes). From Mas de Mingall, you can trek across the mountains to mediaeval villages such as Tivissa and Miravet. The authentic fishing village of L’Ametlla de Mar and many quiet beaches are just a 15 minute drive away. 20 Km South of the farm is the Parc Natural del Delta de l’Ebre, an important wildlife and bird sanctuary.
